“It is true that I started with costume jewelry, earrings, necklaces. The first name I gave to my brand was “Carmela’s”; now I have renamed it as Carmen Fernández Accessories”. That’s how I met her in the recent edition of the New Models Catwalk, celebrated Melia Hotels, Seville. There I fell for her purses, both the raffia ones and the collection dedicated to Africa. What a style!

It is well noticed that Carmen Fernández wants to expand, lead her brand to the top. “I wanted to keep exploring the accessories and I took a course about handmade hairdresses. I make them from sinamay, raffia, fabric lined, with handmade flowers… Anyway, my like of work is not strident in order to make them easy to combine. Wearable colours, sometimes monochromatic, combined with the purses”.

“Every year I go to Bisutex and from there I make myself different pieces. The “boom” are the African horn brooches for the raffia purses, that sometimes I have combined with embroidered and flowers. Each one is different, no two are alike”. But also there is the range Africa, a different kind of purse, with personality but just as much versatile as the rest of her production. They fit into a special occasion like a wedding but also into the sport of any pair of jeans.

With the boost of producing in Seville, Carmen Fernández is on the brink of a new line of purses mixing leather and African tissues, with a more casual style for the summer. Winner of the prize “Style and Fashion Magazine” 2015 to the business activity in the field of accessories, she believe that fashion is a way to express. “With my accessories I express my creativity, because an accessory is the 70% of fashion. It can destroy or enhance a look”.
