María José Segura comes back to telademoda.com because my followes want to know about this designer now that it is time for flamenco. They want to know where she has nailed it again, because María José Segura always stays ahead of trends, colours, shapes… She is a forerunner even to the recent craft boom. She is an artisan since she grew up in this job.

From her headquarters in the 51 of Claudio Coello in Madrid, María José Segura shows step by step the details of her collection for this year. A collection which as always is based in her job, in what she spreads wisedom all around, in her carefully chosen tissues and those shapes which give figure to the flamenco dresses. They are dresses composed for the “Feria” as much as for the “Rocío”.

This season collection has been made with tissues from the 60s, where we see patterns that remind to “art déco”; brocade silk, poplin and cotton and tulle batiste. When any of these tissues are touched, it can be noticed that it is made of a good raw material for a good collection, like the “Flamenco Geishas” who paraded last year in Pasarela We Love Flamenco.

They are very elaborated dresses, where colours and flounces are mixed. This year also mauve can be spotted in her collection. It is the colour of 2018, like Pantone announced, although María José Segura did use it in the past edition. Her designs will follow the trend guides: fitted to the waist, side openings, different tissues mixed –following her style- and a bottom flounce.

She studied in the Fashion School Goymar, she has worked for different designers such as María Velandia and Basaldúa,  besides of being a teacher for the Madrid Community and National Heritage, in the tailoring school-atelier of the Royal Palace. And she is constantly studiying and improving, that’s why she did a Master in Fashion Business Managements in ISEM.

Besides, she always tries to reach out to her colleages. This week opens the corner chance in her atelier of the 51 Claudio Coello in the Salamanca neighbourhood in Madrid, in order to give designers from Seville the chance to show their pieces. “I would like all the interested people to get in touch with me, either by my mobile phone 666469548, email: miasur_mj@hotmail or my web: www.mjosesegura.com”.
